Aurora police investigating gunfire; no one hurt

No injuries were reported after an Aurora police officer heard gunshots in a neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The officer heard gunshots in the area of High and Superior streets at about 3:25 p.m. Police secured the area and located a 23-year-old man nearby whose involvement is under investigation, authorities said Thursday.

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation. No one was struck by gunfire, police said.

During a search of the surrounding area, officers recovered a gun and other items of “evidentiary value,” according to a news release.
