Man charged with having gun modified to fire automatically

A Chicago man is accused of possessing a gun that had been modified to fire fully automatically.

Pretrial release was denied Saturday for Dauveyae White, 18, of the 4300 block of West Haddon Avenue.

He is charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon — machine gun.

Burr Ridge police were called about 5:58 a.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity involving a silver sedan with a missing hubcap, near 15W700 Frontage Road.

Officers pulled the vehicle over near Frontage and County Line Road.

It was being driven by an Uber driver. White and another passenger were in the back seat. When police told White there was an arrest warrant for him, he became combative, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office. The release said he reached for his waistband.

The release said officers found a loaded 9 mm Glock 19 X firearm with a 30-round extended magazine. It also had a switch, making it capable of being fired fully automatically, and two different serial numbers.

The arrest warrant was related to a 2025 burglary case in Cook County, according to DuPage County court records.

White’s next court appearance is March 2.
