Police: Person of interest captured in downtown Palatine assault
Palatine police have a person of interest in custody in connection with reports that a man grabbed a juvenile and took his cellphone in the village’s downtown Monday morning.
The attack was reported about 7 a.m. near the 200 block of West Wood Street, according to police. The juvenile is safe, they added.
At about 11:30 a.m., police said, officers detained a man along the same block after a brief foot chase.
Officials said residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as officers continue to investigate the report. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video footage from the area and other available digital imaging.
