Focus protests on policy, not officers
Our treatment of ICE officers reminds me of the Vietnam War days. Returning servicemen were often treated badly and blamed for a war they didn’t start and may or may not have supported.
However Americans were feeling about that war in the 1960s-1970’, mistreating returning veterans was shameful. I thought we learned that lesson.
Fast forward two generations and we are committing the same shameful behavior toward ICE rank-and-file who are doing their jobs.
They did not create this mess. The mess we have today was created by napping leadership who chose not to the follow the law.
Peaceful protest, not obstruction, abuse or paid agitators, will help lead us out of this mess.
Protests should focus on the policy, not the individual enforcement officers.
