Sign up for Elgin Knights’ 28th annual Chili for Charity contest

The Elgin Knights of Columbus Monsignor Henry Schryer Council 654 invites the community to participate the 28th annual Chili for Charity fundraiser from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at St. Thomas More gym, 1625 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin.

Contest participants must provide eight quarts of your favorite chili for the contestant to be eligible for judging. Doors open at 11 a.m., bring in your heated chili no later than 1 p.m. when judging begins. Utensils, condiments, serving trays and sterno will be provided.

The contestant entry fee is $20. Prizes will be

• Overall Best Chili: First prize, $400; second prize, $250; third prize, $100; fourth prize: $75; or fifth prize, $50

• Best Overall Presentation: First prize, $90; or second prize, $60.
