Wisconsin woman facing attempted murder charges after violent spree through Gurnee

A Wisconsin woman is facing attempted murder charges after a violent spree Monday morning in Gurnee.

Katelyn A. Harmon, 25, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, is accused of attacking three people in what police described as random acts of violence. Police say she did not know the victims.

Harmon is accused of striking a 79-year-old man with her car in the parking lot of a business on the 6100 block of Grand Avenue just after 10 a.m.

The man suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized, police said. Harmon is charged with attempted first degree murder, leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with this attack.

Police said after she struck the man, Harmon used her vehicle to strike a 60-year-old woman in the parking lot as well. That woman was transported to the hospital as well where she was treated and released. Harmon is charged with attempted first degree murder, leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with this attack.

After striking the two people with her vehicle, police said Harmon was located three blocks away engaged in a fight with a 30-year-old man. She is accused of attacking the man while he was sitting in his car.

She pounded on his window and then slashed a driver’s side tire with a large butcher knife, police said in a release Monday.

At some point the man got out of his vehicle and was attacked by Harmon, suffering several cuts to his hands, police added. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Harmon was eventually subdued by police using a Taser.

In connection with the third attack, Harmon is charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to court papers.

Harmon remains in custody and is due in court today.
