Naperville man arrested after car theft
A man was arrested in Naperville Monday after fleeing from a car that had been reported stolen the previous day.
Ethan M. Christiansen, 19, of Naperville was driving the 2007 Honda Civic on Monday around 2:30 p.m. when it was detected by a license plate reader, according to a report from the Naperville Police Department. An Illinois State Police trooper followed the car, and, after local police arrived, Christiansen stopped the car and fled on foot. After his arrest, police found cocaine in the vehicle and methamphetamine in the area he had fled.
The vehicle Christiansen was driving had been reported stolen on Sunday morning from the 900 block of North Brainard Street in Naperville. Officers also received reports that several other vehicles on the block had been burglarized.
Christiansen has been charged with five felonies: possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
