Police: Suspect in December robbery arrested in Palatine
The suspect in a December armed robbery has been arrested by officers from the Palatine Police Department, officials announced Monday.
Luis F. Carrillo Jr., 18, of Chicago, is charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm, which is a felony, according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department.
Police were called to the 1500 block of East Northwest Highway in Palatine around 9 p.m. Dec. 13 for a report of an armed robbery, the release stated.
Officers learned the victim and offender had arranged an in-person meeting through social media to complete a shoe sale that took place online.
During the exchange, when the victim allowed the offender to examine the shoes, the offender showed a black handgun, took the shoes, and ran from the area.
Although the offender attempted to conceal his identity, the victim believed the person was someone he knew, the release said.
Carrillo was arrested on Jan. 30 and, and Jan. 31 was taken to the Leighton Criminal Court Building in Chicago for a detention hearing. He was ordered detained.
Carrillo’s next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 3 in Rolling Meadows.
