Palatine girl reported missing found safe

A 14-year-old girl who was reported missing has been located safe and returned home, Palatine police said Saturday.

The girl was walking when she was last seen leaving her home about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 23, police said in a news release seeking the public’s help in finding her.

The girl didn’t communicate with any friends or family after leaving, which was unusual behavior, police said.

“We would like to thank the community and our media partners for their assistance in sharing information and helping to bring this matter to a safe resolution,” police said Saturday in a news release.
