Antioch’s picks new village administrator from more than 150 applicants
Andrew Lichterman has been on the job more than a week but his employment agreement unanimously ratified Wednesday by the Antioch village board made his selection as village administrator official.
Lichterman was chosen from more than 150 applicants following a national search. The list had been narrowed to six finalists after an extensive evaluation and interview process.
According to the village, several candidates were highly qualified but Lichterman emerged as the clear choice because of his record of municipal leadership, community development expertise, commitment to high-quality services and fiscal responsibility.
Starting as an intern in Deerfield 15 years ago, Lichterman progressively moved into more responsible roles in the administration, most recently serving as deputy village manager and director of community development.
“Andrew brings the experience, leadership style and steady hand that Antioch needs as we continue to grow responsibly,” Mayor Scott Gartner said.
He also cited Lichterman’s understanding of how to balance growth while being mindful of the tax burden on homeowners. His employment agreement includes a $195,000 annual salary, vehicle allowance and standard benefits.
Former village administrator Jim Keim ended a 20-year career in late 2023. Police Chief Geoff Guttschow filled both posts in the interim and was paid a stipend.
Lichterman said he looks forward to working with businesses, residents and staff while moving forward thoughtfully and collaboratively and build on the village’s successes.
His hiring caps a year in which four top administrative positions were filled.
Most recently, Mark Janeck started as community development director Dec. 10. Michael Peterson joined the village as finance director in January 2025 and Katie Kotloski started in March as director of parks and recreation.
