An America to love

Today I was stopped by a very long train. I watched a woman wearing a hijab get out of her car and go to the car in the next lane. She was obviously telling the woman driving the car she had a flat tire. Then she knelt down to take the stem cap off. When she couldn't, she waved to a man in the car behind them who looked to be Hispanic.

He got out, knelt down, removed the cap and screwed on a portable pump supplied by the first woman. The elderly white woman with the flat tire looked so relieved.

And this was in 17 degrees with a windchill of minus-2 degrees.

I am usually impatient at train crossings, but I found myself rooting for the train to keep coming so they could finish with the tire. They finished, the train ended and we all drove off.

This is the America I love.
