One person hospitalized after late night house fire in St. Charles

One person was transported to a hospital following a late night house fire in St. Charles Tuesday.

St. Charles Fire Department officials said they were notified of the fire by the resident of the two-story, single-family home on the 0-100 block of North Avenue just after 10:45 p.m.

Firefighters rescued the resident from the second floor of the building, where the fire was located.

The resident was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The fire was contained to the room and contents on the second floor of the residence and extinguished in 15 minutes, fire officials said.

The home was determined to be habitable and the resident can return once released from the hospital, city officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
