CCSD21 to open kindergarten and new student registration Feb. 2

Community Consolidated School District 21 has announced that registration for incoming kindergarten and new students for the 2026-27 academic year will open on Monday, Feb. 2. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to secure their child’s place for the upcoming school year.

“Registering early helps us plan effectively while ensuring every student has the support and resources they need from the very first day of school,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, superintendent of District 21. “We are proud to continue removing barriers for families and creating an inclusive, welcoming experience for all who choose District 21.”

Kindergarten registration is open to children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026, while new student registration applies to any student new to District 21 at any grade level.

As part of the district’s ongoing initiative to alleviate financial burdens on families, no registration fees will be charged, and school supplies will be provided for all students. This effort, now in its seventh year, reflects District 21’s continued commitment to equitable access to education and meaningful support for families across the community.

Starting Feb. 2, families may register online through the district’s registration portal at ccsd21.org/registration. For assistance or additional information, families may contact the district registrar at registration@ccsd21.org.

Parents and guardians of new registrants will be required to submit:

• Three proofs of residency

• An official birth certificate issued by the county clerk in the county where the child was born (hospital certificates are not accepted)

Depending on a student’s grade level, additional forms may be required. Families who are unsure which school their child will attend are encouraged to visit the district’s School Boundary Map and enter their home address for confirmation.

Once families complete the online registration and upload all required documentation, they will receive an email confirming their child’s registration for the 2026-27 school year.

Families with students currently enrolled in District 21, including preschool students, do not need to take action at this time. Returning student registration will begin in April.
