Woman charged with stealing from Itasca school

An Itasca woman has been charged with stealing from a school for which she worked.

Lisa Hahn, 58, of the 400 block of North Linden, is charged with one felony count of theft from a place of school, worship or government.

Between Jan. 1, 2020, and Oct. 15, 2024, Lisa Hahn “knowingly exerted unauthorized control” of at least $10,000 but less than $100,000 belonging to The Lutheran Church and School of St. Luke, according to an indictment filed Jan. 20 in DuPage County Circuit Court.

According to an Itasca police report, church officials contacted police Oct. 31, 2024. The report said Hahn had worked for the school for 27 years, and was its business manager, until it fired her.

A St. Luke’s official told police Hahn was responsible for payroll and managed the school’s accounts and purchases, according to the report. They told police they believed Hahn had bought items using the school’s Walmart/Sam’s Club credit card and its Amazon account, and had the items delivered to her house. The official said she used St. Luke’s bank account to pay the Amazon and credit card bills.

Hahn is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 20.
