Elgin Area Chamber offers scholarships to local graduates

Continuing its tradition of supporting local graduating students to further their education, the Elgin Area Chamber and its economic development program, Elgin Development Group, are offering 10 $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in Elgin and South Elgin.

The scholarship criteria are based on the applicant’s scholastic achievement, interest in continuing education and career goals, participation and leadership in school, and community activities.

“EAC believes that leadership, community service, and the pursuit of higher education should be appropriately recognized and rewarded,” said Carol Gieske, CEO of the Elgin Area Chamber. “Through our scholarship program, we are able to reward students on their pathway to success as they represent the future business and community leaders in our communities of Elgin and South Elgin.”

Students pursuing further education through certificate, license, two-year or four-year trade, technical school, or university, are welcome to apply for the scholarships.

“We are pleased to offer qualified applicants the opportunity to seek our scholarships,” said Tony Lucenko, Elgin Development Group Director. “It provides high school students seeking further education the needed support to take their next step of gaining the necessary skills to further their chosen career. Through this effort, the EDG is proud to continue its mission of aligning the workforce for tomorrow’s jobs.”

Applications are being accepted online until April 10 at elginchamber.com/scholarship-application/.
