‘The Future is Now’: Fox Valley Orchestra spotlights young musical talents
Fox Valley Orchestra and Chorus present “The Future is Now” on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Aurora University's Crimi Auditorium, 1347 Prairie St. in Aurora. Parking is free.
Winners of Fox Valley Music Consortium's collegiate voice and high school instrumental competition will be featured. Winners received a monetary award and the opportunity to perform with the Fox Valley Orchestra.
The performers are: violinist Leo Zupko, Sibelius Violin Concerto; soprano Anne-Marie Atanga, Ambroise Thomas’s “Pale et blonde”; cellist Ella Wimbiscus, Elgar Cello Concerto; soprano Audrey Esquivel, Strauss’s “Adele's Laughing Song”; violinist Romeo Vashishth, Ravel’s “Tzigane”’; and soprano Sophia Altamirano, Puccini’s “O mio Babbino caro.”
Stephen Squires will conduct the orchestra with Lisa Fredenburgh as chorus master.
Tickets are available online until noon Jan. 24 are $20, $18 for seniors/students and $12, or free for under age 8. Fees apply. Prices higher at the door. For tickets, go to foxvalleyorchestra.org/season.php.
