Folk duo February Sky returns for Jan. 23 concert in Geneva

Folk duo February Sky will appear at the annual “Evening of Folk Music” sponsored by the Geneva Park District on Friday, Jan. 23. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, 102 S. James St.

Phil Cooper and Susan Urban play and sing traditional, modern and original folk and Celtic music with guitar, cittern, mountain dulcimer, banjo and percussion.

The music runs the gamut from riveting story songs to uproariously funny songs, and some thought-provoking insights into life and its problems.

In 2024, February Sky released their sixth CD, “Wheels of Time,” featuring a combination of old, new and original songs and tunes, complete with vocal harmony, intricate arrangements on multiple instruments, and thoughtful stagecraft.

Other releases include: “Silver Wolf Moon” (2017), “Goldenrod” (2013), “Time-Honored Pathways” (2011), and their self-titled “February Sky” (2007), along with “Ain’t No Sangin’,” an all-instrumental project released in 2016.
