Helping to cover up a tragic event
In his Jan. 14 opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal, George J. Terwillinger III wrote: “Last week, after an ICE agent shot and killed a civilian who was driving her car in his direction, Mayor Jacob Frey demanded that ICE get the F — out of Minneapolis.”
To the best of my knowledge, there is no video evidence that Renee Good was driving her car in the direction of ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, On the contrary, there is video evidence that she was driving away from the ICE agent.
With his emphasis on the rule of law, the author adroitly avoids any consideration of the moral law whereby the shooting would be considered an unjustified immoral act. I also agree with the author that the rules of politics may impose a more demanding standard than the rule of law.
In the end, the rule of law arguments expressed in this opinion piece aids and abets the Trump administration’s attempts to cover up this tragic event.
