No reasonable cause for taking Greenland

Greenland is an autonomous part of Denmark which is an integral part of the EU and NATO. It is defended by the Arctic Council led by Denmark, backed by NATO. Germany has committed to enhancing existing defenses.

Denmark has three air squadrons in three air bases there along with three naval squadrons coupled with well trained and equipped Danish Special Forces (yes, they have specialized needed dog sleds in the far north).

Our Canadian neighbors have established a consulate there with solid EU and NATO backing plus having mining companies already positioned to aid in extracting rare minerals.

The U.S. has long had a military and space base there. Naval tracking sources show no Russian or Chinese vessels around Greenland. Thanks to NATO, there can be no serious threat to Greenland.

Their population is strongly opposed to American ownership and/or control.

It appears there is no rational explanation for American ownership and/or control. Let’s recall as has been aptly documented by a leading senior GOP Senator that Denmark has long been a serious ally for the U.S. They backed American forces in Afghanistan after 9/11 with their blood and treasure.

I’d add that the Danes kept their Jews from being slaughtered by the Nazis by enabling their escape to Sweden.
