Bundle up and skate into winter fun at Oak Brook Park District ice rink

Looking for a fun winter outdoor adventure? Look no further, the Oak Brook Park District is planning to open the ice rink this weekend.

With many students off from school on Monday, Jan. 19, the timing could not be better. The extra day off means more time to lace up skates, glide across the ice, and make the most of the long winter weekend.

The Oak Brook Park District Ice Rink, a seasonal feature of Central Park, offers a variety of activities for the community. Skaters can enjoy ice skating, hockey, curling, and other self-directed activities. The rink features picnic tables and overhead lighting to create a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit.

“The Community Ice Rink is more than ice and boards. It’s a place where neighbors come together, kids discover new passions, and our community makes lasting memories,” said the Superintendent of Parks and Maintenance, Jake Stachowiak. “Built through the dedication and hard work of the Parks Department, it stands as a testament to the pride, care, and strong sense of community that make the Oak Brook Park District truly special.”

The ice rink welcomes skaters of all ages and experience levels, providing a fun and inviting space for first timers and seasoned skaters alike. Laughter, movement, and winter memories are sure to fill the rink as the community takes advantage of the crisp winter weather.

The Oak Brook Park District extends a sincere thank you to Midwestern University Eye Institute for sponsoring the ice rink and supporting this seasonal community experience. Their partnership helps bring the fun skating experience to life.

Participants are encouraged to check the park district website, obparks.org, for the rink rules and latest status updates before visiting.
