Man charged with multiple firearm offenses in Elgin

A man is facing multiple felony charges after discharging a gun in Elgin Wednesday, authorities said.

Jesus D. Ramos Pratz, 23, of Elgin, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Elgin Police responded to the 300 block of Purdue Lane for a report of a subject displaying a gun.

Police found Ramos Pratz a short distance from the location with a gun in his possession.

After an investigation, Ramos Pratz was charged by the Kane County state’s attorney’s office with felony reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as misdemeanor aggravated assault.

Pratz will remain in custody at the Kane County jail until his next court date Jan. 21.
