Carol Stream man accused in $900,000 federal fraud scheme
A 42-year-old Carol Stream man is facing federal fraud charges after being accused of stealing from his employer and bilking others of a combined $900,000.
Brandon Getzloff pleaded not guilty last week to federal wire fraud charges where he is accused of stealing $700,000 from his employer, an Oak Lawn medical center, as well as $200,000 from numerous individuals who paid him to arrange outings to luxury golf courses and other sporting events.
Prosecutors say between 2021 and 2024, Getzloff used credit cards from the medical center to purchase gift cards for himself and also pay personal bills.
He also organized the outings by inducing victims to pay sometimes a year in advance and using those funds to cover costs of earlier events, but also pocketing some of the money for himself, according to court papers.
Getzloff is due back in court Jan. 28 for a status hearing, prosecutors said.
