GreenMan Theatre Storytellers present ‘Travel Stories’ in trio of performances
GreenMan Theatre Storytellers will trek to the exciting world of journeys — both real and imaginary — for its “Travel Stories” event at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, in Room 201 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 125 W. Church St., Elmhurst.
An additional performance will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave. The storytelling is intended for adults and older children.
Performers for “Travel Stories” will be Cassy Beach, Marilyn Connolly, Debbie Proska, Mary-Carol Riehs, Steven Soria and Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff. Thomas-Davidoff is the director; Beach, the music director.
“We’ve selected stories from different cultures and different parts of the world so attendees can ‘travel’ vicariously through them,” Thomas-Davidoff said. “Some of the stories are fictitious and some come out of personal experience. Storytelling is always exciting because, unlike TV or movies, listeners create pictures related to the stories in their own minds.”
Cost for the “Travel Stories” performances at St. Peter’s UCC is $10, payable by cash or check at the door. The performance is on the second floor, reachable by elevator or stairs. Refreshments will be available for sale before the show.
Pre-registration is suggested for the library’s in-person show, because the number of pre-registrants helps determine the size of the room to be used. Registration is absolutely required for the online show.
Attendees can register for an in-person or online space at elmhurstpubliclibrary.libcal.com/event/15161237. There are 61 in-person seats available. Walk-ins for the in-person event are also welcome.
