B-PAC: Glenbard Bilingual Parent Advisory Council and the GPS Parent Series in Urdu will present “A Parent’s Guide for Flourishing Families” with family therapist and youth counselor Saleha Jawaid at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, via Zoom. This event will be presented in Urdu only.

All families hope to cultivate a home environment where every member thrives. Jawaid will join GPS to assist parents and caregivers with strategies to nurture a sense of security and trust with their children. She will provide simple tips for open communication, active listening, and empathic responding.
Participants will learn to establish clear boundaries that promote self-discipline and responsibility and build their child’s resilience so they can overcome life’s many challenges.
Jawaid will provide insights that will support each child's individual strengths, while also empowering parents to build a supportive environment that promotes the emotional growth and well-being of all family members.
Jawaid is a certified alcohol and drug counselor who has worked in a variety of clinical and therapeutic settings. Her passion lies in interacting with adolescents in need, and in raising awareness regarding substance misuse and mental health.
All are welcome to the free weekly GPS events, and no registration is required. To be placed on a reminder list for GPS events, contact Gilda Ross, student and community projects coordinator, at gilda_ross@glenbard.org or (630) 942-7668.
