Authorities: Antioch man had child sex abuse materials
An Antioch man is accused of possessing numerous images and videos of child sex abuse materials, many involving children younger than 13, officials said.
The Lake County state’s attorney’s office on Thursday charged David J. Ransdell, 72, with five counts of child pornography possession, all felonies, and authorities said additional charges are possible.
Ransdell remains in the Lake County jail awaiting a detention hearing.
Lake County sheriff’s detectives began an investigation on the 1000 block of Deertrail Court in Antioch after receiving a tip from an email provider indicating a device in Lake County e-mailed items suspected to be child sex abuse materials.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home, where they used two specially trained electronic detection police dogs -- Grip, from the state’s attorney’s office, and Enzo, from the sheriff’s office -- to help find devices.
