Officials: Man found dead on tracks was on wrong train, climbed over safety barrier
Through investigation and video evidence, Metra police have determined that the man found dead on train tracks in Libertyville last Friday died by falling or stepping off the train while in transit.
Police say Allen Chiquini, 30, of Mundelein, was mistakenly aboard a northbound train, believing it was traveling south.
When Chiquini couldn’t open the passenger doors, he exited the train through the rear door by climbing over the safety barrier.
He then landed on the tracks by either falling or attempting to step off the train, according to police.
Chiquini was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy shows he died from blunt force head injuries consistent with being struck by a train.
Results from a toxicology test are still pending, and the investigation is ongoing.
