Bears CEO happy to play ‘switcheroo’
Kevin Warren is laughing all the way to the bank.
The longer he strings out the Chicago Bears and their fans, the happier he will be. He's earning millions of dollars a year while he plays the “switcheroo” game of where will the Bears build their new stadium. It was Chicago, Arlington Heights, Aurora, Indiana, etc. etc. The longer he strings this out, the more the fans wait and Warren makes millions.
It’s been reported that each year the Bears delay building the new stadium, the price of construction goes up $100 million. It's been almost three years since the Bears purchased the property in Arlington Heights. That's $300 million that could have been used to pay for what Warren calls “tax certainty.” That doesn't even include all the costs for his salary and the countless hours and millions of dollars spent for studies that have been done to determine if all these properties are worthy of the Chicago Bears.
How many more millions of dollars are the Bears willing to waste to start all over again to evaluate if the team should move to Indiana? How many more years will the fans need to wait for a new stadium? Only one person really knows, and he's laughing all the way to the bank. Cha ching, Cha ching!
