Flames engulf pole barn near Burlington

Fire investigators are working to identify the cause of a blaze Monday that fully engulfed a pole barn near Burlington.

Heavy smoke billowed into the sky Monday afternoon as firefighters battled flames pouring out of the structure in the 45W500 block of Plank Road in Kane County.

Multiple fire agencies, including the Burlington and Pingree Grove and Countryside fire protection districts and the St. Charles Fire Department, responded to the scene shortly after noon.

Upon arrival, first responders found the barn “fully involved with the roof down,” officials said.

Fire crews were on scene for about 3½ hours extinguishing the flames and preventing flare ups.
