Resident injured after car catches fire in Geneva garage
A person was injured when a vehicle caught fire late Saturday in the garage of a Geneva home.
Firefighters responding to the home in the 300 block of Cheever Avenue at about 11:59 p.m. found smoke showing from the garage and requested additional resources, city officials said.
The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes, according to the city.
One resident suffered a minor heat-related injury, was assessed by paramedics at the scene and declined further medical attention.
The preliminary origin of the fire was determined to be a car in the garage, but the cause remains under investigation. The fire damage was limited to the garage, but the home’s interior sustained smoke damage.
