Jarosch Bakery moving to new storefront in new year

Jarosch Bakery has rolled out butter cookies by the pound, pecan pies like your grandmother made and every kind of coffee cake imaginable from an Elk Grove Village strip mall, its home for generations.

One of the few old-school bakeries around will make a long-planned move in the new year. And for Jarosch fans, finding the new spot should be as easy as pie. Better still, the bakery plans to reopen in time for Paczki season.

After decades of serving loyal customers from the retail strip center at the southeast corner of Arlington Heights and Higgins roads, Jarosch is relocating to a “beautiful new storefront” in the new plaza on the same corner, the bakery announced Saturday.

“This move is part of the wonderful redevelopment happening in our community, and it means we'll have a fresh, modern space to continue baking all your favorites — from our famous butter cookies and coffee cakes to custom cakes and sweet rolls,” the bakery shared in a Facebook post.

Jarosch will officially mark its last day in its existing space Jan. 17.

Then, the bakery will be closed for roughly three weeks to make a smooth transition. The business expects to welcome back customers in the new storefront sometime around Feb 6.

“You've celebrated birthdays, weddings, holidays, and everyday moments with us, and you've made Jarosch Bakery a true family tradition for so many. We wouldn't be here without you, and we're so grateful for every smile, story, and sweet treat shared,” the post stated.

The bakery originally opened in 1959.
