Suburban man arrested after shots fired in Elgin
A Hoffman Estates man is facing charges after shots were fired during a reported domestic disturbance in Elgin, police said Wednesday.
Derrick D. Bell, 38, of the 1800 block of Jamestown Circle, is charged with unlawful use of weapons and ammunition by a felon, reckless discharge of a firearm, not having a concealed carry permit, not having a firearm owner’s identification card and aggravated assault with a firearm. He also was charged with having a gun despite not being eligible for a firearm owner’s ID card.
The violence occurred about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 600 block of South State Street, police said. No one was hurt.
Bell was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Kane County jail Wednesday, pending a detention hearing.
