D128 welcomes senior residents for annual holiday tradition
On Dec. 9, 140 senior residents of Community High School District 128 attended the annual Senior Dinner and Holiday Concert at Libertyville High School. District 128 and LHS staff members, along with members of the LHS Interact Club and National Honor Society, helped greet and serve the guests.
The long-standing annual tradition is an opportunity to say “thank you” to District 128 senior residents for their ongoing support of the District 128 high schools. Many of the attendees were graduates of the district, as well as parents and grandparents of District 128 graduates and current students,
Following a meal in the cafeteria that featured chicken Alfredo, vegetables and fresh-baked cookies, the seniors moved to the auditorium where they were treated to a performance of the Holiday Choir Festival under the direction of Jeff Brown. The concert featured the annual tradition of welcoming audience members to the stage to join the choir in singing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.
The event is the second of two annual events the district hosts for seniors. In November each year, the district hosts a dinner and show at Vernon Hills High School that includes a performance of the school's annual musical theater production.
