The heart is missing
I just read Rachel Kurzius's article about A White House Christmas. The theme this year is “Home is Where the Heart Is.” Excuse me, but where is the heart within this holiday decor?
If this is truly “The People's House,” where is the heart and where are details of the holidays that we “The People” observe and celebrate? We are a country of many with different beliefs and traditions. Shouldn't “The People's House' recognize that?
Thank you and merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or whatever you may celebrate.
Sincerely yours,
Cheri Klumpp

A ballot question
Non-citizens are prohibited from voting in federal elections, including for president, vice president and members of Congress. This prohibition is codified in the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, which makes voting a criminal offense for non-citizens. State constitutions and statutes generally mirror this requirement, reserving the right to vote in statewide elections for U.S. citizens only.
English is the official language of the United States. And one of the basic requirements toward becoming a U.S. citizen is the ability to communicate in English.
That being the case, why do we print ballots in multiple languages?
