Let’s get facts straight
Readers often see the Daily Herald’s political leanings through their own personal viewpoint. In the news sections, some see blatant liberal bias where I see a corporate controlled media that won’t hold a lawless and lying administration accountable for its actions. On the editorial page, some rage over a Susan Estrich column while I shake my head at another ridiculous Dick Wright cartoon or the gaggle of right-wing columnists writing another Hunter Biden story while the Trump crime family rakes in billions in various schemes and more swindlers and drug lords get pardoned.
When a writer recently called the Herald stupid or ignorant for referring to Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense rather than the Secretary of War, I had to wonder where the ignorance lay. The legal name is designated by Congress and continues to be the Department of Defense. The Department of War is simply a vanity renaming so the administration’s he-men can beat their collective chests while illegally blowing up a few boats in the Caribbean and costing up to two billion taxpayer dollars.
So please, before accusing someone of ignorance and stupidity, get your facts straight and realize that just because our president says something does not make it so.
