Know the facts about department’s name

In response to letter writer Robert Antepenko “Accept Change in Department Title,” who says “Now, I ask, is the Herald stupid or ignorant” because they refer to the Department of Defense instead of Department of War. I could ask Mr Antepenko the same question.

Like most things in the Trump administration, reality gets in the way again because the Department of Defense (and most other departments) can only be changed by Congress even though Trump thinks otherwise. Just like changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico, the change exists only in his mind.

The reason the Herald uses the correct name is not because of “left leaning” bias, it is because they report reality, even if some readers are told to believe otherwise.
