Swedish choir to present St. Lucia Festival with music, baked goods

Celebrate Christmas Swedish style when the Swedish American Children's Choir presents the 27th annual Swedish Christmas and St. Lucia Festival at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

The festival will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia, and feature music by the choir, which is directed by Marguerite Karl, with special guests Swedish Folk and Emma Foelske-Hess, piano.

Also featured are Margaret Lekander, violinist, and Julia Lekander, flute. This year's St. Lucia, Queen of Light, is Kora Cahill.

Following the concert, a Swedish Christmas sweets table will be served and Jul Tomte, a Swedish Santa, will visit with the children. Also available for purchase will be Swedish bakery goods.

The Swedish American Children's Choir is the largest choir of its kind in the Midwest. In their 27th year, they have performed at numerous venues in the Tri-State area. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the choir tour fund.
