Victim identified in fatal Thanksgiving Kildeer car crash

Kildeer police have identified the victim of a car-pedestrian crash that took place Thanksgiving Day.

On Thursday, Nov. 27, at about 5:30 p.m., the Kildeer Police Department responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian near Quentin Road, south of Rand Road. They arrived to find the pedestrian, a 71-year-old man with fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Donald Dougal, a resident of Barrington.

On Monday, Dec. 1, the Lake County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy which found that Dougal died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old male whose identity has not been made public, submitted to blood and urine tests after the crash. According to Kildeer Police Chief Steve Balinski, there is no suspicion the driver of the vehicle was impaired.

“This was a tragic event that occurred on Thanksgiving evening,” Balinski said.

Kildeer Police and the Major Crash Assistance Team are currently investigating the cause.
