Who will be the next target?

Historical ignorance, ah yes. We are catapulting to a 1930s Germany repeat while invoking fascism has quickly and sadly become a new American cliché. I recall how befuddling my decades-old history classes were when mentioning the emergence of Hitler’s own Brownshirts. Thugs indirectly supported by the “regime” targeting Jews, or people of color or … wait … This was so unimaginable. How could this happen anywhere? How could anyone let this happen? How could people just stand by and watch? The 33% of Hitler’s supporting players dominating the remaining 66%.

Then, the emerging troubling images of a self-recruited legion of our own Brownshirts, newly recruited ICE agents, with a thinly “veiled” mission targeting Hispanic gang members. Wow, a sanctioned legion of our own brown “patriotic” ICE agents, indiscriminately exploiting our communities of color while punishing demonstrators. Minimally trained “patriot bullies” — equipped with zip ties, tear gas and weapons of fascist Italy, Germany and even Franco’s Spain patrolling our streets in search of those gang members.

Like many people, with this line now crossed in our American cities, I can’t help feel like us Catholics, Muslims, even Grandma Antifa members are the next targets.

Whew, I am glad it’s not me. Yet.
