People walk along the new Eagle Street Gateway Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, in Naperville. The roughly $2 million project along the Riverwalk has been funded to date by the city and a federal grant. A retaining wall has been replaced with a series of broad steps and terraces, diagonally bisected by a spacious, gently sloping path connecting the river and street-level walkways. The goal was to enhance accessibility, allowing people to walk along the Riverwalk without having to return the way they came. A program was held on Nov. 14 to celebrate the completion of the work.
