Indian Trails library trustee to resign next month

A member of the Indian Trails Public Library board will step down next month because he's moving out of the Wheeling-based district, officials said Monday.

Bruce Matthews will resign after the March 16 board meeting, said Brian Shepard, the library's executive director. A Buffalo Grove resident, Matthews is moving to southern Illinois.

Matthews joined the library board in 2015 and was reelected in 2021 to a four-year term.

The board will appoint someone to fill Matthews' seat until spring 2023, at which time it'll be on the ballot.

The board will meet remotely Feb. 16 to discuss the timeline and process for finding Matthews' successor. That meeting is set for 7 p.m. and can be viewed at us06web.zoom.us/j/85038506158.
