Muriel Anderson returns to Downers Grove for her 34th annual hometown concert

Muriel Anderson’s Saturday-After-Thanksgiving Concert is marking its 34th year on Saturday, Nov. 29. Special guest this year is Italian virtuoso guitarist Alberto Lombardi.

Anderson returns to her hometown of Downers Grove for an evening of acoustic music, stories, images, refreshments, and a chance to win a new Eastman guitar courtesy of Tobias Music.

This year’s concert will have an earlier start time. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1047 Curtiss St. in Downers Grove. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $28 or $18 for the livestream. Tickets are available online at murielanderson.com or in Downers Grove at Anderson’s Bookshop, 5112 Main St. or Tobias Music, 5013 Fairview Ave.

Every ticket gives you a chance to win a new Eastman Guitar, and in-person guests will enjoy complimentary hot apple cider and homemade baked goods.

At this special concert, there will be “passport books” to follow along all the countries that will be visited in the music.

A portion of proceeds go to the Music for Life Alliance charity, helping to support music education for young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

Enter the church through the glass doors on the west side of the building. Curtiss is a one-way street heading east and the church is one block west of Main Street. There is a parking lot across the street, behind the library. There are also limited parking spots behind the church and along the street.
