Villa Park man accused of punching police officer in face
A Villa Park man has been accused of punching a police officer in the face after a high-speed car chase.
Aizik Davila, 18, of the 300 block of North Ardmore Avenue, is charged with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and felony aggravated fleeing and eluding, and misdemeanor resisting a peace officer.
On Monday, DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden ordered that Davila be detained.
According to a prosecutor’s petition for detention, around 2:37 a.m. Villa Park police were investigating a report that vehicles were being burglarized. A Hyundai Palisade was seen at the scene. Cicero police reported seeing the vehicle later and that it had fled from them.
At 3:49 a.m., a Villa Park officer noticed a Hyundai Palisade on St. Charles Road.
Authorities say Davila was the driver and that he sped away from the officer, reaching a speed of 113 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Officers used tire-deflating spikes to stop the car near Westmore Avenue, and an officer pinned the driver’s door with his squad car. Davila and three other people got out through passenger doors and ran off, authorities say.
Davila tried to jump over a fence. An officer grabbed him, and Davila punched him twice before continuing to flee. Another officer detained him shortly thereafter, according to authorities.
At the time of his arrest, Davila was on pretrial release in Cook County for a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
