Elgin Police Department Sergeant Rich Free dies at 44

Elgin Police Department announced late Sunday evening that Sergeant Rich Free has died from complications from an illness. He was 44.

The department announced in a Facebook post that Sergeant Free passed away Sunday morning while off duty.

Sergent Free served more than11 years as an officer with the Elgin Police Department as a member of their SWAT Team and Honor Guard.
