Indivisible Elk Grove Township holding food drive Nov. 15

Indivisible Elk Grove Township is hosting an open house and food drive on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The event will run from 2-4 p.m. at a location in Elk Grove Village to be disclosed upon registration.

Organizers said the event is a response to the impact of the federal government shutdown and the loss of SNAP benefits for families in Illinois.

It will also be an opportunity to meet with local elected officials, including state Rep. Nicolle Grasse, state Sen. Laura Murphy, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison, and Elk Grove Township Trustee Monika Stajniak.

Suggested donated items include: canned goods; grains; kid-friendly foods; pantry staples; and essentials such as diapers, wipes, feminine hygiene products, soap, shampoo and other toiletries.
