Two injured in train vs. car collision in Hainesville

Two people were injured in a collision between a train and vehicle on the tracks near the intersection of Belvidere and Centre Drive in Hainesville around 12:06 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.

Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene, where they confirmed a single passenger vehicle sustained significant damage. Fire and EMS extracted one critically injured passenger from the vehicle. One patient was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition, while a second was transported from the scene in stable condition.

Grayslake, Metra, and Round Lake Beach Police Departments assisted on the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Metra Police Department.
