‘Sandwich King’ Jeff Mauro brings flavor to ‘COD Presents’

College of DuPage welcomed Emmy-nominated chef and Food Network star Jeff Mauro as part of the “COD Presents” speaker series on Oct. 9.

Mauro combined humor, storytelling and culinary expertise as he shared insights from his career as a chef and entrepreneur.

Known as the “Sandwich King,” Mauro closed the evening by demonstrating what he does best — making the perfect sandwich.

During the day, Mauro met with students in COD’s Culinary, Baking and Pastry Arts programs to share his journey from college to professional and celebrity chef.

He discussed the importance of perseverance, creativity and authenticity in building a successful culinary career.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions about his path from opening a deli in Chicago to competing on Food Network Star and hosting multiple television shows.

Mauro encouraged them to stay curious, value mentorship and embrace every learning experience on their way to success.
