Two injured when car crashes through Hanover Park House

Two people were injured Friday morning when a car crashed into a Hanover Park house.

Police officials said a Hanover Park woman likely suffered some type of medical emergency as she was driving on the 4200 block of Woodlake Drive just before 10:15 a.m. and failed to negotiate a curve, causing her sedan to drive over a lawn and careen into the front of a neighboring house and through the attached garage.

A resident of the home was in the garage at the time of the crash and was trapped underneath the car, police said.

Firefighters were able to extricate both from the wreckage and transport them to nearby hospitals.

Police officials said both suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

Crash investigators remained at the scene for several hours. The cause remains under investigation.

Village officials determined the house to be uninhabitable until structural repairs are made.

Police officials said the residents made arrangements with other family members in the area to stay elsewhere until the damage is fixed.
