Lombard firefighters to host Fire Prevention Week open house

Lombardians are invited to the fire department’s open house Wednesday night.

The family-friendly event coincides with National Fire Prevention Week and a campaign about how to safely use lithium-ion batteries. One key message promoted by the National Fire Protection Association: Do not put lithium-ion batteries in the trash or in regular recycling bins because they may cause fires.

The open house will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the fire station at 50 E. St. Charles Road.

The free event will feature station tours, a chance to meet department personnel and live demonstrations. Residents also can explore fire and EMS vehicles, including a new 2025 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Fire Engine. For details, contact Lombard Fire Marshal & Bureau Chief Perry Johnson at (630) 620-5750.
