Medinah man one of five facing federal charges after weekend clashes at ICE detention facility

A Medinah man is one of five people facing federal charges for interfering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the Broadview detention facility over the weekend.

Federal prosecutors said 21-year-old Hubert Mazur is charged with forcibly resisting, opposing, impeding and interfering with a federal officer, a misdemeanor.

They claim Mazur grabbed an agent’s arm before he and the agent fell to the ground, and he continued to struggle with the agent while being arrested outside the facility Saturday.

The four others are charged with felony assault, according to court records.

Two Chicago residents, Ray Collins, 31, and Jocelyne Robledo, 30, are accused of possessing loaded handguns as they struggled with ICE agents during Saturday’s protest.

Oak Park 26-year-old Paul Ivery is accused of grabbing an agent’s helmet during a scuffle and threatening to “kill” the agents.

And a 70-year-old man from Rockford, Dana Briggs, is also accused of assaulting an agent as agents attempted to “extend the safety perimeter around the facility.”

According to the criminal complaint, Briggs was pushed to the ground by agents. When Briggs attempted to hand his phone to another protester, an agent tried to prevent the exchange and was struck on the wrist by Briggs’ arm, causing the agent to “experience pain.”
