West Aurora, Elgin, Glenbard South, Streamwood secure victories

Senior multi-purpose back Lesroy Tittle ran for 105 yards on 5 carries and 2 touchdowns and caught 2 passes for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while junior tailback Bryce Riley ran for 116 yards on 8 carries and 3 touchdowns to lift West Aurora (3-2, 2-1) past Bartlett 49-21 Friday night in Aurora.

Riley, who opened the scoring with a 38-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter, added a 37-yard TD run in the second quarter before starting the second half with a 9-yard TD run, as the Blackhawks built a 42-7 lead after three quarters.

After Bartlett quarterback Tyler Meziere tied the game with a 7-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, the Blackhawks scored 35 unanswered points to grab control.

Tittle scored back-to-back, second-quarter touchdowns on a 60-yard run and 19-yard reception from quarterback Mason Atkins as the Blackhawks took a 28-7 halftime lead.

Tittle capped his night with an 84-yard touchdown reception from Atkins, extending the margin to 49-14. Darek Szceblewski converted all seven of his PAT kicks for the Blackhawks.

Meziere, who began the fourth quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run, connected with Joe Caputo on a 37-yard TD pass to finish the scoring.

Elgin 49, East Aurora 0:

Jeremiah Seward returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown, while Lamarin Powell scored 3 touchdowns – 2 receiving and 1 rushing – during Elgin’s 49-0 Upstate Eight West victory over East Aurora (0-5, 0-3) Friday night in Elgin.

Anthony Foster opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter before Powell tallied the next 2 scores on a 34-yard run and 36-yard screen pass from Jacob Rufino for a 21-0 lead.

Rufino’s 4-yard keeper for a touchdown extended the lead to 28-0, and Seward’s pick-6 made it 35-0 at halftime.

Rufino added a pair of 39-yard touchdown passes in the second half to Powell and junior receiver Jayden Edgar Gray, as the Maroons amassed 393 yards of offense.

Glenbard South 56, Elmwood Park 0:

The Raiders (4-1, 3-0) maintained their position atop the Upstate Eight East standings following Friday night’s 56-0 road win over Elmwood Park (0-5, 0-3).

Quarterback Tommy Bauman connected with Troy Oleksak for a 31-yard touchdown pass, while Isaiah Gray later added a 31-yard punt return for a score.

Glenbard South also collected a defensive touchdown, as linebacker Hutson Poltrock forced a fumble inside the Tigers’ 2-yard line, and teammate Timothy Ewald scooped up the loose ball and tumbled into the end zone.

The Raiders host unbeaten Riverside-Brookfield (5-0, 2-0) Friday night.

Marist 29, IC Catholic Prep 28:

Trailing Marist 29-19 after three quarters, the Knights (3-2) staged a fourth-quarter rally, pulling within 29-22 on Ryan Grant’s 30-yard field goal with 8:38 remaining and narrowing the gap to a point on Foley Calcagno’s 4-yard touchdown run with 4:03 left.

Following a false start penalty, the PAT kick try sailed wide left. With 1:01 remaining, a 50-yard field goal try fell short, as the Knights dropped a 29-28 CCL/ESCC crossover clash to the RedHawks (1-4) Friday night in Chicago.

Junior quarterback Nate Lang finished with 3 touchdown passes, including a pair to sophomore Grant Bowen covering 83 and 30 yards, respectively. His other TD pass was a 43-yard connection to junior Jaden Penna.

Streamwood 49, Larkin 7:

LJ Robles rushed for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while teammate Justin Brown added 142 yards on 15 carries and a 42-yard touchdown during Streamwood’s 49-7 Upstate Eight West victory over Larkin (1-4, 1-2) Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Quarterback Aden Sanchez tossed a pair of touchdown passes, including a 66-yard strike to Damarion Smith.

Robles ran for touchdowns covering 62 and 15 yards, respectively, for the Sabres (2-3, 2-1).

Devin Krueger tallied the Royals’ lone score on a 50-yard touchdown run. Julius Yandell, Jr., added an interception for Larkin.

Lincoln-Way West 27, Waubonsie Valley 17:

Lincoln-Way West (5-0, 3-0) punched its playoff ticket with Friday night’s 27-17 Southwest Valley Red victory over Waubonsie Valley (0-5, 0-2) in Aurora.

Waubonsie Valley grabbed a 14-0 lead on quarterback Colin Ford’s 45-yard touchdown pass and a touchdown run by Brayden Hostetler.

The Warriors still led 17-7 following a field goal from Christian Korzeniowski, but Lincoln-Way West scored 17 unanswered points, as tailback Jimmy Talley Jr. tallied his second and third touchdowns of the night.

Addison Trail 48, Morton 7:

The Blazers (4-1, 3-0) remained atop the West Suburban Gold standings with Friday night’s 48-7 victory over visiting Morton (1-4, 1-1).

Senior quarterback Nico Dill passed for 221 yards, while the Blazers added 199 yards on the ground, as they outgained the Mustangs, 420-169.

Addison Trail converted 6 of 9 third-down opportunities.

York 34, Oak Park-River Forest 11:

Senior tailback Henry Duda carried the ball 22 times for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as York (4-1, 2-0) earned its fourth straight victory, beating Oak Park-River Forest 34-11 in Elmhurst.

Trailing 3-0, Duda took a handoff from quarterback Dominic Alfano and ran to his left before cutting back to the middle of the field and taking off on an 80-yard touchdown run that put the Dukes in front for good.

Duda, who added a 51-yard touchdown run, also caught a 28-yard scoring pass from Alfano.

William Bute scored on a 73-yard run, as the Dukes finished with 299 rushing yards.

Wheaton Academy 48, St. Edward 0:

The Warriors (3-2, 3-0) stretched their winning streak to 3 with Friday night’s 48-0 Chicagoland Christian triumph over St. Edward (1-4, 0-3) in Elgin.

Logan Oros paced the defense with 7 tackles, including 4½ for losses, and a sack, while Bradley Hughes had 4½ tackles with a sack, and Gino Hudson added 2 tackles for loss with a sank, as the Warriors recorded their first shutout of the season.

Senior tailback Tyler Jones carried the ball 4 times for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns covering 39, 25 and 31 yards, respectively. Oros delivered a 23-yard touchdown run on the offensive side of the ball, while Tommy Sommer had a 33-yard TD run.

Jake Shales and John Mazzarella recorded interceptions for Wheaton Academy, which limited Green Wave leading rusher Zach Sauceda to minus-1 yard on 10 carries.

St. Charles East 24, Wheaton North 20:

The Saints (1-4, 1-2) held off a fourth-quarter rally to post their first win of the season, beating Wheaton North, 24-20, Friday night at Norris Stadium.

The Falcons (2-3, 1-2) took a 7-0 lead on quarterback Burke Neibch’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Drew Mazeska, but the Saints quickly answered on sophomore quarterback Cruz Herrera’s 17-yard scoring strike to senior receiver Sheko Gjokaj.

Another Neibch touchdown toss put the Falcons on top, 14-7, only to have the Saints put together a two-minute attack that led to another TD pass from Herrera, tying the score at 14-all at halftime.

Ryan Possin’s 23-yard field goal midway through the third quarter gave the Saints the lead for good at 17-14. Herrera’s third touchdown pas of the night made it 24-14.

After the Falcons misfired on a field-goal attempt, they fought within 24-20 Neibch’s 8-yard touchdown pass to tailback Max Serbick. A missed PAT kick left the deficit at 4 with a minute remaining.

Wheaton North recovered the subsequent onside kick but 3 straight incompletions sealed the decision.

Bishop McNamara 45, Aurora Christian 42:

The Eagles (3-2, 1-2) dropped their Chicagoland Christian contest, 45-42, to league-leading Bishop McNamara (5-0, 3-0) Friday night in Aurora despite 3 touchdown passes from senior quarterback Asa Johnson.

Johnson, who added a 5-yard touchdown run, connected with Dominic Klimpke on scoring passes of 55 and 30 yards, respectively, while also hitting Nolan Robertson with a 19-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 3 in the final minute.

Jalen Callaway had touchdown runs of 25 and 19 yards, respectively, as the Eagles suffered their second straight setback.

Downers Grove North 49, Proviso West 0:

Kevin Jay Jr. scored on a 22-yard touchdown run to propel the Trojans (4-1, 2-1) to a 49-0 West Suburban Silver victory over Proviso West in Downers Grove.

Downers Grove North rolled out to a 42-0 halftime advantage against the Panthers (1-4, 0-3).

Glenbard East 42, Ridgewood 6:

Quarterback Michael Nee threw a pair of touchdown passes, and the Rams (4-1, 2-0) added a punt return for a score during their 42-6 Upstate Eight East victory over Ridgewood in Lombard.

Willowbrook 45, Hinsdale South 14:

Willowbrook improved to 2-3 overall, 2-1 in West Suburban Gold play, with Friday night’s 45-14 victory over Hinsdale South (1-4, 1-2) in Villa Park.

Aurora Central Catholic 41, Catholic Central, Wi. 0:

The Chargers (4-1) enjoyed their trip to Wisconsin with a 41-0 victory over Catholic Central (0-5) Friday night in Burlington.

ACC, which grabbed a 12-0 after one quarter, put the game out of reach with a 29-point, second-quarter surge.
